Golden Boughs and Hallowed Grounds

For millennia, humans have been enraptured by the poetry and majesty of Nature. The cycles and circles of our lives intertwine through times immemorial and places unseen, as the totality of the Web of Interdependent Existence necessarily constitutes and surpasses the sum of our Selves. In a humble attempt to illustrate some vectors in this Web, Phillip C. Strickland, an applied anthropologist, provides his meditations from the field (and the armchair). From lush forests to forlorn graves, what are we in the Anthropocene?
